Impact Assessment for
100 MW Concentrated
Solar Power Project at Kom Ombo- Aswan, Egypt

This request for expression of interest follows
the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the UN
Development Business online.
The Government of the Arab Republic of
Egypt has received a grant from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) through
the African Development Bank (AfDB) toward the cost of undertaking preparation activities and
capacity building related to the development of a 100 MW
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Project at Kom Ombo, Egypt, and intends
to apply part of the agreed amount for this grant to payments under the
contract for conducting an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
studyfor the project.
The services included under this project is an
Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study, which will have to comply
with the environmental procedures of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency and
with the environmental guidelines of the financing institutions; the African
Development Bank andWorld Bank.
The ESIA study aims to bring the project into
compliance with applicable national environmental and social legal requirements
and international organizations’ environmental and social policies. Other objective
of the ESIA is to outline the mitigating/enhancing, monitoring, consultative
and institutional measures required to prevent, minimize, mitigate or
compensate for adverse environmental and social impacts, or to enhance the
project beneficial impacts. It shall also address capacity building
requirements to strengthen environmental and social capacities.
The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) now invites eligible consultants to indicate
their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide
information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services
(brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions
especially in Egypt, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).
Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of
qualification.
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the
short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African
Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the Use of Consultants” (May 2008 Edition), which
is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. NREA is under no obligation to shortlist any
consultant who expresses interest.

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the
address below by October 9, 2011 at 12:00 hrs Cairo Local time and mention
